BIO

My name is David McKeag. I have been drawing or painting for as long as I can remember. My educational background related to the field of art is an AA degree in Art from Cerritos Community College graduating in 1983 and a BS degree in Industrial Design from Art Center College of Design graduating in 1986.

Since then I have worked with many different types of media and styles. I have concentrated most of my earlier efforts in doing realistic representational
drawings/paintings. Over the years I have tried my hand at more abstract ideas, venturing to the surreal and finally more abstract and to my surprise more introspective works.
I am very much into exploring this more abstract side of my mind, but I still love to create the illusion of reality or altered reality through realism and surrealism.

What drives me to create art is the simple need to express emotions that build up inside me, either representational as in a portrait or object isolated so as to focus on the subjects innate beauty and strengths, or abstract to get at the most basic of raw emotions.

I never know from one day to the next what will inspire me and how I will interpret the inspiration. I don't have a focused point of view, but rather the need to constantly challenge myself with new approaches and perspectives in both representational and abstract applications. More than anything I want to have fun and if the viewer sees that, then I have accomplished my goal.
